EO@Wharton: Elevating Finance + Operations will use a mixed teaching methodology: lecture, case study, teamwork and role-play. The learning in the program will evolve using the diverse experiences of EO members and the expertise of Wharton faculty to create an environment that is engaging and impactful. The tools and frameworks discussed in the classroom will be fully transferable to member organizations for immediate application. *Faculty is subject to change.

David WesselsDavid Wessels

Program Director, Faculty

David Wessels is an Adjunct Associate Professor of Finance, and a Director of Executive Education at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. David teaches courses on corporate valuation, venture capital, and performance management to undergraduates and MBA students in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and San Francisco, California, and to executive audiences globally.

David has been recognized by his students with the school’s MBA excellence in teaching award, and was acknowledged nationally for his research on organizational structure and financial performance. His co-authored book, Valuation: Measuring and Managing the Value of Companies, is accepted as the seminal text for students of corporate valuation and investment banking.

In addition to his teaching on campus, David served on the executive development and training faculties at Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Coca-Cola, Ericsson, Estee Lauder, Home Depot, Lockheed Martin, McKinsey & Company, Microsoft, Philips, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Siemens, and UPS. Before joining the Wharton School, he served on finance faculty of the Goizueta Business School at Emory University. Prior to Emory, David was a management consultant with McKinsey & Company and a technology analyst for Boston-based Harbourvest Venture Partners.

Professor Wessels holds a PhD in finance from the UCLA Anderson School of Management, a BS in economics and a BAS in computer science from the University of Pennsylvania.

 

Greg Crabtree

Greg Crabtree is a speaker, author, entrepreneur and financial expert.  Greg founded his own firm Crabtree, Rowe and Berger to focus on helping entrepreneurs build their economic engine.  After being named to the INC 5000 list for 2019, Greg’s firm merged with Carr, Riggs & Ingram CPA’s and Advisors, a top 20 U.S. Accounting firm to help broaden their impact on the entrepreneur community.

In 2011, Greg’s first book “Simple Numbers, Straight Talk, Big Profits” shares his core principles of how to turn your business into a wealth building engine.  In 2014, Greg contributed a chapter to Verne Harnish’s book, “Scaling Up” on how to improve profits though labor efficiency.  In 2020, Greg released his newest book, “Simple Numbers 2.0: Rules for Smart Scaling”.  Greg is a frequent speaker to groups like EO, Scaling Up (Gazelles), Vistage, ACETECH and many Mastermind groups and has presented in over 15 countries.

Greg is also the member host and ambassador for the EO@Wharton Executive Education program and has served in this capacity for the last 7 years. He also serves as an EO Accelerator trainer since inception of the Accelerator program.

Gad AllonGad Allon

Faculty

Gad Allon is the Jeffrey A. Keswin Professor and Professor of Operations, Information and Decisions, and the director of the Management and Technology Program at the University of Pennsylvania.

He received his PhD in Management Science from Columbia Business School in New York and holds a Bachelor and Master degree from the Israeli Institute of Technology.

His research interests include operations management in general, and service operations and operations strategy in particular. Professor Allon has been studying models of information sharing among firms and customers both in service and retail settings, as well as competition models in the service industry. His articles have appeared in leading journals, including Management Science, Manufacturing and Service Operations Management and Operations Research. Professor Allon won the 2011 “Wickham Skinner Early-Career Research Award” of the Production and Operations Management Society. He is the Operations Management Department Editor of Management Science and serves on the editorial board of several journals.

Gad is an award-winning educator, teaching courses on scaling operations and operations strategy. He has also been an innovative leader in many educational technology initiatives. He is the co-founder of ForClass, a platform that enables professors to drive higher student engagement and accountability in their classrooms. Professor Allon regularly consults firms both on service strategy and operations strategy.
