Leadership Communication: The Science of Persuasion and Inspiration

This workshop is brought to you by EO@INSEAD

Effective communication skills are paramount for senior executives. They need to be able to articulate a strategic vision effectively, and to persuade and inspire their team members.

The goal of this course is to introduce interactive and interpersonal communication skills critical to leaders by developing two kinds of knowledge: conceptual expertise on the art and science of leadership communication, and practical mastery of communication aimed at business audiences.

We aim to introduce concepts that will help you to craft relevant, memorable and clear messages. To understand how to communicate effectively, you will need to understand how the human mind makes sense of messages and ideas.

We will explore the anatomy of ideas and messages, why some ideas stick, and others don’t. Through this process, we will unpack the key elements that help you engage, persuade and inspire your audience, regardless of whether they are clients, bosses, or team members.

Speaker Labs

Eric Silverberg and Eli Gladstone

This workshop is brought to you by the EO Global Speakers Academy (GSA)

The common misconception about becoming a world-class public speaker is that it’s solely about honing skills. However, the truth is that it’s more about developing the mindset. While learning strategies for storytelling and audience engagement is vital, they’re just pieces of the puzzle. The most exceptional speakers understand that their greatness isn’t just about how they address the crowd; it’s also about their internal dialogue.

Every individual possesses innate abilities to influence, inspire, share knowledge, and connect with others. Yet, when faced with speaking to groups, many experience a transformation where self-doubt and insecurity take over. Overcoming these inner obstacles is the key to unleashing one’s communication potential.

Whether you’re grappling with public speaking fears, seeking a communication edge, or aiming to make public speaking your superpower, join this session to unlock more of your potential.

Bio

Eric Silverberg and Eli Gladstone co-founded Speaker Labs, a public speaking training organization based in Toronto, Canada.  Their partnership is driven by a shared passion for helping individuals express ideas confidently and clearly.

They also happen to be best friends, and they share practically identical career paths! They both began their careers in the world of academia as professors at Canada’s prestigious Ivey Business School. It was there that they found their love for teaching while engaging with eager minds in bustling classrooms.

Driven by an insatiable entrepreneurial spirit, they transitioned into the realm of high-growth tech startups. Little did they know that the public speaking expertise honed in the lecture hall would become their most valuable asset in the unpredictable world of business.

A pivotal moment occurred when they recognized a recurring inquiry among their peers: the quest to master the art of storytelling, to command attention with clarity and dynamism, and above all, to exude confidence on any stage. It was this realization that sparked the inception of Speaker Labs — a manifestation of their combined passion for teaching and communication.

Today, their influence extends far beyond the confines of traditional education. From empowering leaders at industry titans like Shopify, Google, and Uber to nurturing entrepreneurial talent at EO’s Global Speakers Academy, their impact knows no bounds.

Tania Sng

Tai Chi Relaxation

Tai Chi Relaxation is foundational for teaching the ability to relax the body and mind to release stress and experience a healthy, happy, natural state of life. This restorative practice compromises nine meditative movements. The first eight are moving meditations, the last one is a non-moving, sitting meditation.

Each of the nine movements is synchronized with a specific acupuncture point in the Ren or Du meridians based in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).

The benefits are achieved naturally through the kai he (opening, uniting) process. Like washing/purifying your energy, you release stress hormones and murky Qi to rejuvenate and revitalise your physical body, mind and spirit.

Tai Chi Relaxation can be practiced anywhere in any attire, standing or sitting, and is suitable for any age.

Bio

Most people aspire to be happy and healthy, and the key to both is relaxation. The Chinese cultural meaning of Heart (xin 心) encompasses both the physical heart and the unseen ‘Heart’ in seven aspects: emotion, virtue, wisdom, concentration, desire, vision, and attitude. Tania dedicates her life to teaching the practice of relaxing and opening the heart and body to achieve balance, wholeness, and harmony.

Tania holds a diploma in biotechnology from Singapore Polytechnic and a degree in cinema and photography from Ithaca College in New York where she graduated Most Outstanding Student of the Year in 1999.
