Registration for off-site activities are now open!

Important: Off-site activities will take place on 8 and 10 February 2023.

These activities are open to members and their registered guests. Please register for one off-site activity per person, per day.

 

Please read these important notes about off-site activities:

  • Registered members and their guests may sign-up for one (1) off-site activity per person
  • All off-site activities have limited space and are first-come, first-served
  • Some activities may be cancelled due to inclement weather
  • Members and their guests that sign-up for the same activity will be assigned to the same group
  • There are no waitlists for sold-out activities
  • Lunch is included in all off-site activities

8 February 2023 Off-Sites:

Kayaking Adventure

Departure time: 9:30am
Return time: 12:00pm
Price: FREE

Organized tour with a guide, paddling along Löngudæl lake and into the narrow canals of the swamp. The area offers both a relaxed mood and potential challenges for the teamwork of the group.

What’s included:

  • One full hour on the Kayak
  • Kayak

Lava Tunnel

Departure time: 9:30am

Explore the magnificent lava tunnel Raufarhólshellir, one of the longest and best-known lava tubes in Iceland. This tour allows you to explore the tunnel in an easy and enjoyable manner. A footbridge has been built and impressive lighting in this part of the tunnel highlights the changing colors and clearly shows the powerful volcanic activity that formed the tunnel.

10 February 2023 Off-Sites:

 

Blue Mountains adventure

Departure time: 9:15am
Return time: 1:30pm

Ready for a tour that takes you all the way to Iceland’s third most active volcanic system with all the trails, thrills and amazing views you can handle? Along the way, you’ll tackle gravel paths, rocky trails and steep slopes in these amazingly fun buggies/ATVs.

What’s included:

  • Two full hours on the buggy/ATV trails – Double ride
  • Sightseeing on the Hengill Mountain Range
  • Adventuring to Hellisheidi Geothermal Plant
  • Explore the Blue Mountains with the historical Vífilsfell mountain
  • Gear: Overalls, helmets, balaclavas, gloves
  • Packed lunch

Snorkeling in Silfra

Departure time: 9:00am

Snorkeling through the clearest water between two continents is one of the experiences in Iceland you shouldn’t miss. Jump in and enjoy Silfra!

What’s included:

  • Guided snorkeling trip
  • All necessary snorkeling equipment
  • Hot chocolate and cookies after the snorkeling trip
  • Entrance fee into Silfra
  • Packed lunch

What to bring:

  • Long underwear
  • Thick socks
  • Suitable clothes for the weather of the day
  • Contact lenses (if you wear glasses)
  • Valid form of ID

*Please note the following requirements for this activity:

  • Height: minimum 150cm/ maximum 200cm
  • Weight: minimum 45kg/ maximum 120kg
  • Fit within the dry suit size chart
  • Be comfortable in water and able to swim
  • Be physically fit
  • Be ready to wear a sometimes tight and constricting dry suit
  • Be able to communicate in English
  • Not be pregnant
  • All participants must sign a Medical Statement and Liability Release Form which will be sent to you after registration by EO.

 

 


 

Icelandic Horseback riding

Departure time: 8:30am

Experience the Icelandic horse trails surrounded by amazing nature right outside Reykjavík’s city centre. Our friendly horses and specially trained guides will take you on a ride along excellent riding paths on unique Icelandic horseback and enjoy beautiful scenery including lava fields and green hillsides.

What’s included:

  • Riding helmets, rubber boots, and rainwear/warm outfit during the ride.
  • Trained guides who speak multiple languages (English, Scandinavian and German).
  • Packed lunch

What to bring:

  • Warm gloves and a thin hat to fit under the riding helmet are recommended
  • Valid form of ID

Whale watching + sea angling on private boat

Departure time: 9:00am

On a whale watching tour from Reykjavik, you will be able to experience some of Iceland’s rich and thriving bird life, and visit our large variety of sea life, including minke whales, humpback whales, harbour porpoises and white-beaked dolphins, among other whale species. We will then head out to fishing areas in Faxaflói Bay, where our experienced crew will usually spot fish in a flash!

*Important: Please, be aware that this tour is weather dependent and sightings cannot be guaranteed. Captains will make their decision to sail based on many years of experience, always keeping in mind passenger safety and comfort. For this reason, off-site may be cancelled at short notice.

Ready for a tour that takes you all the way to Iceland’s third most active volcanic system with all the trails, thrills and amazing views you can handle? Hike up to Fagradalsfjall, where the lava from last year’s volcano eruption is still hot and steaming out in several places!

What’s included:

  • 1,5 to 2 hour hike at Fagradalsfjall Volcano with a trained guide
  • Visit to Seltún Hot Springs and Kleifarvatn Lake
  • Lunch in Grindavík

What to bring:

  • Good hiking boots with ankle support
  • Spikes – if the shoes are not hiking boots
  • Outdoor clothes suitable for the weather conditions
  • Head lights if possible
  • Water bottle
