Title | Defining Success: This talk might save your life |
Description | We overachievers need to change our mindset.
Many of us define success by setting high (and often) unrealistic goals, achieving them, then looking for the next win because what we’ve accomplished isn’t enough. I’m not going to delve into the psychological underpinnings of why we do this and what happened in our childhoods to get us to this place, as there are lots of reasons. But I am here to save us from ourselves. We are victims of our own success–which leaves us feeling unfulfilled, burned out, dissatisfied, depressed, or even suicidal. We need to consider re-defining success. There are three essential questions we need to ask ourselves. My talk will explore these questions, lead the audience to reflect on their current personal and professional definition of success–and find actionable ways redefine it. |
