Ex Convento San Hipólito

Due to a recent change in Mexican civil protection laws, the Postal Palace is no longer available to us for Wednesday evening’s social and the event has been relocated to Ex Convento San Hipólito. If you have any questions, please contact the events team.

As a warm welcome to Mexico City, we will kick off the evening socials in the stately building of San Hipólito. Established in the sixteenth century with philanthropist Bernardino Álvarez as a place for the poor and sick, it has had various tenants through the years and is most well known as a convent and hospital. It was declared a Mexican Colonial Monument in 1964 and recently went through an extensive restoration project with the National Institute of Anthropology and History so that it can open its doors to the public. We will wine and dine under the beautiful archways and around the stunning water fountain feature. We will take in a piece of Mexican history and appreciate its opulent times with gold accents and candlelight.

Dress Code: Cocktail Style/Classy

Note: The setting for San Hipólito is traditional, warm and elegant. As it is the opening night and you may be traveling during the day, there is no need to go all out. However, adding a dapper touch to your outfit will suit the venue well. Ladies can plan to wear a fashionable dress and men will fare well in a handsome tie and slacks. We will be walking 10-15 minutes from the Hilton Reforma to the venue, so please wear comfortable shoes and avoid flashy jewelry or purses. The venue is entirely indoors.

Dine-Arounds
memelas
We wouldn’t be surprised if you were coming to Mexico City solely to experience the vibrant food scene! Over the last few years, Mexico City has received endless international acclaim for its influential, contemporary restaurants and lively nightlife. What used to be one of the most underrated culinary cities in the world, is finally getting the attention it deserves. You will be divided into small groups to dine in the most trendy, exclusive restaurants in the city. Celebrity chefs are pushing themselves to make modern, innovative cuisine honoring ancient, Mexican techniques and local ingredients. Meet and catch up with fellow EOers in an intimate, stylish setting, connecting over an unforgettable meal.

Dress Code: Smart Casual/Chic

Note: We will be dining at Mexico City’s trendiest restaurants, so please dress the part! Let’s show the locals how stylish EOers can be. This is not a formal evening by any means, but you will be a part of the “scene,” so think dark jeans with heels or boots or fashionable dresses and long rompers for ladies and dark jeans with blazers and statement patterned or colorful button-down shirts for men.

Friday, 3 March

Museo Numismatico Nacional (Old Mint)
Hidden behind a grand iron door you’ll discover a beautiful open air courtyard that leads you into the cavernous, imposing foundry hall of the Old Mint. The Mint was built in 1535 as the first in the Americas and its production proved the importance and value of the Spanish crown. The evening will be all about dramatic surprises and delights as we move throughout the space. And of course, you can’t leave Mexico City without having an imbibing in plenty of tequila, so EO will host a tasting with one of Mexico’s most well-renowned tequila connoisseurs.

Dress Code: White Party/Chic

Note: During this evening social, new meets old in a vibrant, bold setting. Stand out and celebrate dressed in all white! Yes, it’s winter in Mexico City, but dig out your brightest, whitest outfit for this special occasion – white dresses, jumpsuits, blazers, shirts, white khakis or jeans and more. And don’t you have a pair of white alligator skin loafers that you’ve been waiting for the right event to wear? This is it. Heels will fit the dress code but do keep in mind that the night will lead to a killer dance party on a cement floor, so make sure the heels are comfortable!

Xochimilco
Xochimilco's lake
Join us for the EO Mexican fiesta of the century! We reserved a private garden tucked between the historic canals of Xochimilco, an UNESCO World Heritage Site known as the neighborhood of floating gardens. You will wind your way through the canals on colorful gondolas called trajineras while enjoying local beverages and listening to festive mariachi bands floating on the trajinera next to you. Once you arrive, we’ll treat you to a true Mexican fiesta with traditional decor, vibrant textiles, vendors and plenty of tacos, tostadas and enchiladas. The lively atmosphere will continue into the evening as we close the night with an epic Mexican EO dance party under the stars.

Dress Code: Smart Casual/Comfortable

Note: We are hosting an al fresco fiesta on our final night! Please dress comfortably so you are able to move around the grassy garden with ease; we will be dining from hearty food carts, playing Mexican fair games and dancing along to mariachi and marimba music! Heels are not recommended on the boats or in the lawn so keep it casual with flats or wedges! Colorful dresses with cardigans or blazers and flowy tops with jeans would work for the ladies, or jeans and polos and sweaters for the men. Please keep in mind that the entire evening will take place outside, so bring layers as the evenings will be chillier.
