Learn Arounds
EO Learn Arounds during GLC offer deeply immersive and memorable learning experiences that serve as an off-site extension of our main stage program and chapter officer training. Venturing out beyond our main event venue, we blend theoretical knowledge with real-world experience to gain a deeper appreciation for local knowledge and life.
Learn Arounds will invite you to engage in hands-on learning. Go inside local businesses to hear the stories of local entrepreneurs. Gain access to culturally and historically significant sites while hearing how they shaped the local community. In EO Learn Arounds, you will expand your perspectives, ignite your creativity, and build deeper connections with old friends, new connections, and the local people welcoming us to Hawaiʻi.
Important notes about EO Learn Arounds:
- Registered members and their fully registered guests may sign up for one (1) Learn Around per person. Please be sure to include the full names of both parties when registering.
- All Learn Arounds will depart and arrive from the Hawaiʻi Convention Center. For chapter officers, you will be able to choose your Learn Around during the day and time that you are not at Chapter Officer Training (COT).
- All Learn Arounds have limited space and require pre-registration. They are made available on a first come, first serve basis. There are no wait lists.
- Learn Arounds are complimentary to EO GLC participants and are considered an integral part of the learning program.
- If you choose to sign up for an EO Learn Around, we kindly ask that you be mindful of the limited space available for participants. Learn Arounds are a key component of the overall GLC learning experience, and we would greatly appreciate your commitment to attending and participating fully.

2025 Learn Arounds
Blue Planet
Embark on an exclusive off-site adventure on the breathtaking North Shore of Hawaiʻi. Get to know EO Hawaiʻi member Robert Stehlik, the visionary founder of Blue Planet, as he shares the story of how his love for the ocean led to the creation of a brand that resonates with water enthusiasts worldwide. Dive into a hands-on paddling adventure, guided by local experts who will connect you to the traditions and rhythms of the beautiful Anahulu River.
During this experience, you will learn about:
- The journey of Robert Stehlik, from his early inspirations to the founding of Blue Planet, and how he acquired the Haleiwa location during the height of the COVID pandemic.
- A brief history of stand up paddleboarding
- The cultural significance of paddling in Hawaiʻi, exploring the deep-rooted traditions that have been passed down through generations.
Note: Please bring a bathing suit, hat, sunscreen, and dry change clothes. Must be at least 4’ 6” and weigh less than 275 lbs.
Honolulu Cookie Company
Step into the world of sweetness with a visit to Honolulu Cookie Company, where tradition and innovation blend into every bite.
Join co-owner and Young Presidents Organization (YPO) member Ryan Sung as he shares his family’s remarkable story, from humble beginnings to creating a global brand beloved by cookie enthusiasts everywhere.
Participants will enjoy a behind-the-scenes factory tour, discovering the craftsmanship that goes into each iconic pineapple-shaped cookie.
During this experience, you will learn about:
- The entrepreneurial journey of Ryan Sung and how his family turned a simple idea into a world-renowned brand.
- The importance of maintaining quality and consistency in mass production while staying true to family traditions.
- Strategies for branding and marketing that elevate a product to iconic status.
Mari’s Gardens
Immerse yourself in the lush beauty of Mari’s Gardens, a family-run oasis that champions sustainable farming and the spirit of aloha.
Hear from founder and EO member, Brendon Lau, as he shares his family’s journey of transforming traditional farming practices into a thriving, eco-friendly business. You will engage in a lei-making workshop, connecting with the land and Hawaiian culture through this hands-on experience.
During this experience, you will learn about:
- The story of Brendon Lau and how his family’s dedication to sustainability shaped the vision for Mari’s Gardens.
- The principles of innovative farming techniques used at Mari’s Gardens to promote environmental stewardship.
- The cultural significance of lei-making in Hawaiian tradition and its connection to the land and community.
Malama Experience at Kualoa Ranch
Embrace the spirit of “mālama”—to care for and give back—with a hands-on stewardship experience at the renowned Kualoa Ranch.
Explore the ranch’s sacred lands and participate in meaningful conservation efforts. From reforesting native plants to restoring ancient Hawaiian fishponds, this experience connects you to the island’s natural beauty and cultural heritage, fostering a deep sense of responsibility for the land.
During this experience, you will learn about:
- The significance of “mālama” in Hawaiian culture and how it inspires sustainable practices at Kualoa Ranch.
- Kualoa’s vision for preserving and restoring its natural ecosystems through community stewardship.
- • The ecological importance of native species and traditional Hawaiian agricultural systems in maintaining a healthy environment.
Note: Please wear clothes and shoes that can get dirty or wet during the experience, a hat, sunscreen, and a change of dry clothes.
Explore the Majestic Beauty of Kualoa Ranch
Journey through one of Hollywood’s most iconic locations at Kualoa Ranch, the backdrop for blockbusters like Jurassic Park and Jumanji.
Explore the lush valleys, towering cliffs, and cinematic landscapes that have captivated audiences worldwide.
During this experience, you will:
- Traverse the iconic Kaʻaʻawa Valley, renowned for its towering peaks and green fields.
- Navigate winding trails that lead through the ranch’s stunning, cinematic scenery.
- Get up-close encounters with native flora and fauna that thrive in this peaceful, natural environment.
Note: UTVs—off-road vehicles—are available on a first-come, first-served basis. A valid driver’s license is required for this tour. The tour may include the option to drive or ride in the vehicle, but driving is not guaranteed.
Kō Hana Rum, Rum Distillery
Venture into the heart of Hawaiʻi’s sugarcane heritage with a visit to Kō Hana Rum Distillery.
Join founders Jason Brand and Robert Dawson as they unveil the story behind Kō Hana’s single-varietal sugarcane rum, handcrafted with a deep reverence for Hawaiian agriculture.
Explore the distillery and cane fields, where you will discover the meticulous process of transforming ancient heirloom sugarcane into world-class rum that celebrates Hawai’i.

Waikiki Art Give Back Experience
Join us for an inspiring and colorful day at the Waikiki Community Center! A talented local artist invites you to be part of a unique community giveback project where creativity meets community spirit. This mural painting event is designed to bring together people of all ages and backgrounds to create a vibrant piece of art that reflects the heart and soul of Waikiki.
Our Hawaiʻi artist is a celebrated local talent known for their vibrant and thought-provoking murals that capture the essence of Hawaiian culture and community. With a background in various artistic disciplines, they have been transforming public spaces across Hawaiʻi with their unique vision. Their work often features elements of nature, local history, and the diverse cultural tapestry of the islands, making each piece a meaningful addition to the community.
During this experience, you will learn about:
- Collaborative Mural Creation: Work alongside the artist and fellow EO members to paint a stunning mural that will be a lasting symbol of unity and creativity.
- Entrepreneur Workshop: Hear from a local entrepreneur, Naomi Gauthier, Co-Founder of The Art Agency, as she shares her inspiring journey of building a successful business in Hawaiʻi.
- Discover how she connects people and fosters collaborations to showcase Hawaiʻi’s amazing local talent to the world, overcoming challenges and celebrating triumphs along the way.
The Genki Ala Wai Project
Engage in a powerful environmental experience with The Genki Ala Wai Project where you will help restore the Ala Wai Canal using innovative “Genki Balls”—eco-friendly handmade mud balls filled with microorganisms that naturally purify the water.
Join the founders in a hands-on journey of environmental stewardship and learn how community action can transform ecosystems.
During this experience, you will learn about:
