Learn Arounds

This year, the GLC Learning Programme will extend beyond the auditorium. On the second day, you will have the opportunity to join a group of your fellow EOers to expand your learning journey through an off-site experience that aligns with one of the following themes.

GLC attendees will participate in learn arounds with groups of peers from their Chapter Officer Training Tracks. Attendees who are not engaged in Chapter Officer Training will have the opportunity to participate in Learn Arounds and will receive registration details at a later date.

Please note that learn-around experiences will be pre-assigned and you will receive an e-mail with the details by mid-April.

Theme one: Social entrepreneurship and advocacy

In this experience, you will learn about local impact initiatives though a variety of experiences, such as leadership lessons from the life of Nelson Mandela, discovering the internal workings of local government and hands-on learning from local social entrepreneurs.

This theme is for you if you are a cause-driven, impact-oriented leader passionate about building a better and more equitable world. Join us to learn how to harness the power of your leadership for good. 

Theme two: Arts and culture

In this experience, you will explore the richness of local culture by tasting the vibrant flavors of local cuisine, learning from the stories of Africa’s first people and moving to the rhythms of local music.

This theme is for you if you are creatively inclined and are interested in local history and artistic expression. Join us to learn from the diverse culture and collective wisdom of South Africa. 

Theme three: Sustainability, nature and the shared ecosystem

In this experience, you will interact with the wild and beautiful landscape of Cape Town through learning about innovative conservation efforts, seeing first-hand the unique local biodiversity and interacting with local wildlife.

This theme is for you if you enjoy the outdoors and are passionate about the planet. Join us as we learn about the part we can play in the shared ecosystem.

Theme four: Industry and innovation

In this experience, you will see first-hand the diverse and interactive landscape of doing business in South Africa and the larger African market. Learn about the real-time opportunities and challenges EO companies in this part of the world face, incubators for innovative new local start-ups and behind-the-scenes operations of local industry.

This theme is for you if you are inquisitive and curious about doing business in a new market and enjoy peer-to-peer learning. Join us to hear from your fellow EOers and see how local industry is innovating to meet the evolving needs of their community.
