People make the pilgrimage to this unique symbol of “the triumph of the human spirit over adversity, suffering and injustice” in order to better understand and honour the important aspects of South Africa’s history that the Island represents. With a richly complex 500-year old multi-layered history, Robben Island is a crucial part of South African history. It was the site of Nelson Mandela’s imprisonment for 18 years, as well as many other political prisoners.

Join MyEO for a meaningful day of giving, loving and gratitude. We will travel about 30 minutes from the GLC hotel to the communityof Dunoon. Most of the residents have limited education and 60 – 80% of the adults are unemployed. We will visit some of the schools that the SAVE Foundation supports in this community for children ages one to six years old. You will have the opportunity to learn about the people that live in these communities, their daily struggles and feel the positive energy of the townships.
