Aga Khan Museum Private Tour & Reception

15 April 2018 —2 PM – 5 PM
Location: Aga Khan Museum – Toronto, Canada
Price: USD 45.00
MyEO

[:en][:en][:en][:en][:en][:en]The Aga Khan Museum is an award winning architectural site and offers visitors a window into worlds unknown or unfamiliar: the artistic, intellectual, and scientific heritage of Muslim civilizations across the centuries. Its mission is to foster a greater understanding and appreciation of the contribution that Muslim civilizations have made to world heritage. Through education, research, and collaboration, the Museum fosters dialogue and promotes tolerance and mutual understanding among people.

In designing the Aga Khan Museum, Fumihiko Maki, winner of the Pritzker Architecture Prize, used light as his inspiration. He ensured not only that light is ever-present in the building, but that, depending on the time of day or season, light will animate the building in myriad ways: throwing patterns on the exterior walls of Brazilian granite, enhancing interior spaces, or illuminating the open-roofed courtyard. Within an unmistakably contemporary design, Maki incorporates historical elements originating in Islamic cultures, building bridges between eras as well as civilizations. The wide range of spaces include a 350-seat auditorium, a room inspired by a Persian salon, a stone-tiled, glass-enclosed courtyard, garden and patio areas, and a Patrons’ Lounge with panoramic views of Toronto.

The Aga Khan Foundation is built on and by the Ismaili community with a focus on “pluralism” which is to say that we are all from one soul and we engage in humanitarian efforts independent of race, religion, politics, etc. The Aga Khan Foundation educates that we are all connected and we are all one. The Aga Khan was the first President of what is now the UN (formerly League of Nations), and has won many peace keeping awards globally. The Aga Khan Foundation focuses on schools, hospitals and infrastructure projects around the world.

“The aim of the Aga Khan Museum will be to offer unique insights and new perspectives into Islamic civilizations and the cultural threads that weave through history binding us all together. My hope is that the Museum will also be a centre of education and of learning, and that it will act as a catalyst for mutual understanding and tolerance.” – His Highness the Aga Khan[:][:][:][:][:][:]

Working as a team, you’ll build leadership, discover strength and weaknesses, to overcome the tasks at hand. You’ll have an experience like you’ve never had, as we work with Escape Games Canada to design an experience just for us.

Race – Light Obstacle Course
Have you seen American Ninja Warriors? Its like that, but not that extreme. We’ll be going to PursuitOCR where we will have 10,000 sq. ft of awesomeness. You’ll have the opportunity able to run some obstacle courses, climb walls, jump in a pool of plastic bubbles. Working as a team, we’ll race against other EO teams to see who can set some EO record times for fun! You don’t have to physically fit to run this (my grandpa has done it, and he’s 88!)

Feast – Seafood Heaven
Nothing beats putting awesome entrepreneurs together than breaking bread. Except, when you add LOBSTER in the mix! We’ll be dining in a palace of seafood with over 100 large fish tanks, holding upwards of hundreds of lobsters, crabs, fishes, etc. It would be like you are eating under water! You’ll be feasting on lobster, crab, fish, until you burst from your belt buckle while sipping on some wine. A great opportunity place to take pictures, where you can hold up 25lb+ lobsters and crabs with your bare hands, and pick out the ones you’d like to eat. When I say you’ll be seeing a mountain of seafood, I’m not kidding. Think Everest. Watch below for a small sample.[:][:][:]

Location: Sheraton – Toronto Canada
Price: USD $25.00
MyEO

[:en][:en]A great way to kick-off GLC and to work those weekend calories off.

Each Group Running Tour is led at a casual pace with designated stops along the way. You will also provide each participant with a bottle of water.

A lot has to happen in two centuries for a sparsely
populated, lakeside settlement to grow into a metropolis that consistently ranks among the world’s most livable places. Remarkable (but not always well-intentioned) people and circumstances built Toronto in a relatively short time. At City Running Tours, we retrace their steps through our well researched and expertly led, guided running tours.

Eclectic neighbourhoods, diverse culture and a remarkably colourful history are just a few of the reasons Toronto welcomes more tourists than any other Canadian city. With clean, well maintained streets, an extensive network of ravines & trails and a newly revitalized waterfront that’s part of the largest continuing urban project of its kind in North America, Toronto is perfectly suited to runners of all abilities.
