13 May 2016

Opening Dinner at the Centara Grand & Bangkok Convention Centre at CentralWorld

Thailand is rich in culture and flavor and one of the best ways to experience both is certainly through Thai cuisine. On the opening night of GLC, we will embrace the tastes of Thailand as we experience culinary traditions from the four main regions of the country. We’ll begin the evening with a Thai food parade—an endless sea of servers will float along showcasing mesmerizing dances while serving the first course from the four regions! Be sure to take the time to network with other EO members from across the world and prepare yourself for another full day of learning.

The evening will be a buffet dinner, with sit-down seating for all members and spouses. (Is your spouse registered? If not, sign up here.) (LINK)

Dress Code: From 45 countries, we’ll come together to celebrate EO. We invite you to proudly dress in traditional formal wear of your home country to display the diversity within EO.

14 May 2016

Farewell Party at CentralWorld Square

Experience an extra taste of Thailand as we celebrate the closing of GLC with a festival celebration. Indulge in typical Thai games, entertainment and other festivities while dining on local street food from various vendors. Enjoy this EO party in the heart of Bangkok and cheer to the end of a successful GLC! Central World is walking distance from all official GLC hotels.

Dress Code: Casual. Wear your pha khao ma that you picked up at EO Registration! We’ll be outside, so dress accordingly to enjoy this special Thai evening! (Shorts, t-shirts, and flip-flops.)

9:00 A.M. – 3:30 P.M.
(Buses depart  from the Centara Grand at Central World at 9:00 A.M., please arrive 15-20 minutes in advance.)

All EO Spouses are invited to attend the Spousal Group Activity on Saturday. While on Friday, spouses have lots of options to individually explore Bangkok’s historic and cultural sites with MyEO, on Saturday, everyone will join together to meet one another or reconnect and bond over shared experiences at Sampran Riverside.

Sampran Riverside is just outside of Bangkok, set on 70 acres of riverside property with abundant vegetation and gardens. There are several themed packages focused on appreciating the authentic Thai way of life and historic culture. Spouses will choose one of the exclusive workshops: preparing traditional Thai cuisine with the Foodie Package, liquid balm and herbal compress making with the Creative Package or touring the countryside by bike with the Premier Active Package. After the exclusive experience, guides will lead the Groups through other themed workshops such as vegetable carving, silk processing and bamboo dancing before heading to a Group Lunch & Learn overlooking the beautiful river.

The Group Lunch & Learn will be hosted in the Restaurant which has beautiful views over the river and serves a delicious buffet with fresh local cuisine. During lunch, there will be an enriching learning component. The Spousal Committee is finalizing a Dynamic Speaker, who will address the Spouses on topics such as balancing success and family, time management and building your own brand. After the lunch and learn, the group will return to the Centara Grand to attend the Closing Session.

Please find more information about the 3 packages below.

Foodie Package

Do you enjoy exploring global cuisines and learning about cooking traditions? If so, this is the package for you! Join other EO Spouses in a foodie experience at Sampran Riverside. With the Foodie Package, you will begin with an exclusive, interactive Thai Papaya Salad Workshop. This famous salad (also known as Som Tam) is seen as a Thai culinary treasure, found in nearly all Thai restaurants and in dedicated Som Tam shops, and even has several songs written about it! As you prepare the salad in small groups, you will learn from the Chef about its history, about the ingredients and all the varieties of add-ins – sweet, salty, sour, savory, spicy, as well as a basic introduction to Thai cooking.

After sampling your final product, you will then be guided around the property to observe and experience various workshops led by local Thai specialists. The workshops are each dedicated to the foodie theme: Vegetable Carving, Herbal Compress, Grilled Banana Pudding and Rice Farming.

Package Price: USD $55.00, includes lunch & open bar

Deadline to register is Thursday, 5 May.

Creative Package

Do you like working with your hands and have a fondness for creative arts? If so, consider joining other EO Spouses during the creative, artistic experience at Sampran Riverside. The Creative Package will begin with an exclusive lesson on how to make a traditional Thai Liquid Balm and Herbal Compress. Liquid Balm, similar to the well-known Tiger Balm, is an oil and herbal based ointment applied to the skin which relieves many things, including muscle tension or pain, symptoms of dizziness or nausea and insect bites. Herbal Doctors throughout Asia have been making the warm, comforting balm since the 1800’s as a cure for all ailments. An instructor will work with you to make your own liquid balm and herbal ball compress to take home and will guide you through the varieties of oils and herbs for many uses.

Once your liquid balm is “doctored” to your liking, a guide will walk with you through the property to explore other Thai crafts such as: Silk Processing, Umbrella Painting, Coconut Leaves Weaving, Clay Pottery and Garland Making.

Package Price: USD $55.00, includes lunch & open bar

Deadline to register is Friday, 29 April.

Get some exercise and take in the scenery while you enjoy a guided cycling tour through the lush countryside with the Premier Active Package. During the Active Package’s Cycling Tour, the local Bike Team will lead you through the property to organic fruit and vegetable farms and rice paddy fields. At each farm, the guide will share details of its operations and products. The farm will offer select samplings for the group.

After your return to Sampran Riverside, if there is time before lunch, a local guide will escort you through several of the active themed workshops: Sword Fighting, Muay Thai Demo, Thai Music & Dance or Bamboo Dancing.
