Language

Bhutanese speak a variety of languages with Dzongkha being the national language and one of the most widely spoken. English is also spoken by the majority of Bhutanese making communication very easy.

Currency

Bhutanese currency is known as the Ngultrum. Its value is tied to the Indian Rupee which is also accepted as legal tender. However Indian notes in 500 and 1000 denominations are not acceptable.

Tipping

Generally, tipping is not expected or required at any time. However, if you feel inclined to tip, it will not be refused. Tips for the guides and drivers throughout the programming will be covered by your registration fee.

Electricity

Electricity in Bhutan runs on 220/240 volts with round hole two-pin and three-pin power outlets.

In room wired internet and wi-fi is available at both the Taj Tashi Hotel and Zhiwa Ling Hotel.

Visa

All visitors traveling to Bhutan need a visa. Visas will be processed for you by EO Global once you are registered for the program. You will be required to send a color copy of the photo page of your passport for visa processing.

Health

Before embarking on a trip to Bhutan, please seek advice from your doctor with regard to vaccinations and appropriate medication you should have prior to your travels. As a minimum you should have tetanus, typhoid and hepatitis A inoculations.

Weather

The climate in Bhutan is extremely varied. This variation in the climatic conditions and average temperature can be attributed to two main factors, the vast differences in altitude present in the country and the influence of the north Indian monsoons.

In December, the climate is dry and the high and low temperatures are as follows. These are measured at the valleys and can be considerably different depending on the elevation.

Dress

Dress code for the EO Bhutan Global Experience will be announced when the program has been confirmed. An email will be sent to all registrants closer to the program dates for your planning purposes.

Flying to Bhutan

All the attendees of the EO Bhutan Global Experience will need to fly into Bangkok, Thailand (BKK) in order to take the group flight into Thimphu, Bhutan. The flight to Bhutan out of Bangkok is at 7:20 a.m. on Monday, 8 December.

All attendees will have a hotel room at the airport hotel in Bangkok the night before the Bhutan flight (7 December).

Attendees should plan their round trip flights to/from Bangkok International Airport (BKK).
